CLOSEOUT ITEMS: BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

If you are like most people, then you are always looking for a way to decrease your cost of living. You usually have to research things a bit more; however, the research is usually worth it. If you have not discovered the closeout items from BuyMerchant.com, then you are missing out on some great deals.

When it comes to keeping your quality of life the same while spending less money, then you must find sources of products that deal with manufacturing directly. If you can do this, then you will not have to pay the retail premium that most stores charge.
CLOSEOUT ITEMS: BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

Making purchases in bulk is another way to save money on staple items such as rice, bread, flour, sugar and undergarments. If you can find these items at a large warehouse store, then you will be saving a great deal of money, which will allow you to spend more money on the luxuries that are not at warehouse stores.

 Along with making purchases in bulk, you can also save money by going local. Local stores and farmers markets usually have better products in the first place as well as lower prices overall for the amount of service that you get. Contrary to popular belief, larger stores are providing less and less potent products. If you are looking for the best stuff and also looking to save money, then you owe it to yourself to check out the smaller businesses around your area. You will likely receive more personalized service as well.

GIANT BURGERS AT ‘THE DANISH LAGOON’

One of the things you should do when visiting Siquijor Island is to try challenging your stomach to eating giant burgers. For a laid-back island known to be uniquely peculiar of its conventional richness, I never expected there would be foodstuff known only to be eaten by routined people on the go in noisy and 'to go' cities, is served extraordinarily appealing in this secluded and gloriously private resort along the cliffs of the island of fire.  So, without further ado we headed to the resort with our multicab service to try it for ourselves.

The resort’s name is ‘The Danish Lagoon’, said to be Jessa and Dingdong Avanzado's favorite stop when they're in the island. It’s nestled along the quiet cliffs of Brgy. Paliton and it’s about a ten-minute jeepney ride from the town of San Juan. This resort isn’t accessible by public vehicles, but there are a number of single motorcycles, tricycles in the ‘centro’ that you can contract to bring you here.

There are now a number of resorts operating in this island and mostly run by foreign nationals with their Filipina wives/friends as business partners. The Danish Lagoon in particular, well, as the name suggest is run by Danish nationals with their courteous wives attending the counter, so it’s safe to say and it follows that you won’t be eating ‘kayot’, a local delicacy made out of cassava, the whole time you’re staying around the island.

You’ll be greeted with dwarf palms as you arrive at the resto entrance, the place is cozy, breezy and the air of complete muted privacy abounds the space, perfect for summer retreat.

Since we’re all hungry we placed our orders with the help of the gracious ladies at the counter.

The Danish Lagoon, Siquijor Island

I was amazed by their fine China display, the lady who attended to us and who introduced herself as a wife of the owner said, all of their effects here were shipped all the way from Denmark, even the meat that they use for the burger, wow, all the more I’m excited to savor their giant burgers.

The Danish Lagoon, Siquijor Island

So, finally it came and just as I expected, they’re as big as these;

Call it my bad but valid excuse, sometimes you just have to forget the food’s name and let your senses remember it.

I now mother burger eating kids, somehow I would know by my nose that there’s a burger around but having this on the table completely change everything. It’s like another delectable sandwiched meat thrown out from giant food planet. If you’re a hearty eater this serving is for you, but I’m just a small portion eater so this is quite hyperbolic for me, but of course meant for sharing, perfect for five.

GIANT BURGERS AT ‘THE DANISH LAGOON’

Patties make or break a burger, the meat was grilled over a smokeless griller so it doesn’t smell burnt, they have this special sweet and sour sauce that compliments the veggied and toasted bread.

The only difference is that this one has sunny side up on top of it. I have to support it with a fork for the photo opp as it topples due to the sauce.

GIANT BURGERS AT ‘THE DANISH LAGOON’

This one is their vegan version, nothing special actually, just a large bun stuffed with coleslaw and more coleslaw.

GIANT BURGERS AT ‘THE DANISH LAGOON’

The calamare and fries tower, we had two of these. As I was eating I prayed that, Lord, if this will be my last meal, I wouldn't regret a bit to see you sooner than expected - they're really good and they're really heavy.

GIANT BURGERS AT ‘THE DANISH LAGOON’

Your private moment with your giant burger is best when eaten on this table, it gives you a wide view of the pool, moments to reflect as you slowly stuff your mouth saying, ‘thank you Lord for the awesome weather, for the awesome family and a chance to see this mermaid in solitude.

Great experience to be at 'The Danish Lagoon.'

THE POLITICS OF WEDDING BANDS

$

Though the tradition of wedding bands for women can be traced back to ancient times, wedding bands for men have only become mainstream in the past 80 years or so. There are a few cases of men wearing wedding bands earlier in the century; however, they didn't become a part of wedding tradition until WWII, when soldiers stationed overseas who wanted a comforting reminder of home. The wearing of wedding bands for men exploded in popularity later in the 20th century. A wedding band was originally a symbol of the ownership of a woman by her husband. It's thought that the tradition of a bride and groom exchanging rings at the ceremony, which became a standard part of the wedding ceremony in the 1960s and 1970s, symbolized a modern partnership, a joining of equals. It coincided with the rise of the women's movement and the changing of many traditional socials mores. Wedding bands today are devoid of political and social significance, and are now an eternal symbol of love and devotion given by the couple to each other to signify a promise.

A plain mens wedding band is an appropriate design for men who work in industries where damage or injuries can occur. It's a simple, elegant and practical way to show their devotion without worry. It's also common for a young married couple to opt for simple, inexpensive bands when they first marry and then to purchase more elaborate sets as a token for landmark anniversaries, such as the 10th, 20th, and so on.

COMMON PROBLEMS FOR CONTESTING A WILL

$

Challenging a will is not an easy process, and can bring pressure and stress on yourself, and cause tension amongst your family. However, if you feel there have not been adequate provisions made for you in a loved one’s will, then contesting it is the only solution. If you are unsure whether or not you have just cause to challenge the will, then here are some common will contesting issues to aid your decision.

COMMON PROBLEMS FOR CONTESTING A WILL

Problems with the Executor(s)
Up to four executors can be appointed to administer the deceased’s estate, however disputes can arise amongst executors and this can cause problems. If the distribution of the deceased’s estate is not happening in an appropriate manner, then applications to the Court can be made to deal with this situation. You won’t be necessarily contesting the will itself, but merely the process of how it is being managed.

Not following legal procedures
In making a will, many people opt for the cheaper option of writing it themselves, rather then seeking the assistance of a solicitor. Whilst this is cost effective in the short period, it is cost consuming in the long run as for a will to be valid, certain procedures have to be followed. It could be that the will has been poorly drafted, making it incomprehensible. Was the will signed by two witnesses and by the deceased? If not, then the will might actually be deemed invalid.

Other reasons
This is not a simple issue to look at, but was the deceased in their right mental capacity when he/she wrote the will? If you feel the answer is ‘no’, then there are definite claims for contesting the will. Also, if the deceased was under any undue influence from certain persons, then this is a serious matter that needs to be looked it. There is no doubt that deciding to challenge a will won’t be an easy process. However if you require further assistance in this matter, then contact a solicitor as soon as possible – any delays may hinder your chances to sort this situation out.

Legend has it that Queen Cleopatra, the ancient woman of great beauty has used medicine that came from the Dead Sea to cure her ills and through time this amazing place has been revered for its healing powers by many who have experienced it.

Sad as it may seem but not everyone has the resources to fly to Jordan to get a healing dip at the place of refuge of Queen Cleopatra, but the sound news is that we don’t necessarily have to be in Israel or Jordan to experience the healing benefits of dead sea salt baths, our home bathtubs can be a convenient venue to experience it. There are now commercially available Dead Sea salt baths; a quick visit to your favorite department store can let you bring home sustained benefits in a pack.

Reduce Stress. Dead Sea waters is known to contain 21 different minerals – sulfur, zinc, calcium, potassium, chloride, iodide, magnesium and many more, they’re known potent elements which work to nourish our body. And since getting a trip to the actual Dead Sea is quiet expensive, soaking in warm water speckled with Dead Sea salt granules and readied at our Whirl baths installed at home is the best less expensive alternative we can do, doing this can support our effort to detoxify our body by removing toxins and its byproducts.

TOP 4 HEALTH BENEFITS OF DEAD SEA SALT BATHS

For years it has been a proven natural remedy that Dead Sea Salt bath can significantly reduce and relieve arthritis pain. Soaking in warm sea salt bath at least 20 minutes a day can reduce the swelling and discomfort brought about by this joint disorder.

Heal skin diseases. Common skin problems like psoriasis, eczema can be best naturally treated by sea salt baths. Many patients have spoken that regular soaking to salty warm bath has improved their skin condition and has noted relief from itching and scaling.

To let you get started, fill in your bathtub with warm water and add; 1 cup of Dead Sea Salt, 10 drops of lavender or lemon, candles and music to set the mood.

Enjoy, take your time and relax.

A woman who works in an occupation where she stands most of the day will likely want to find a pair of support hose to incorporate into her work outfit. These types of hose are made of breathable fabric that allows a woman's skin to get plenty of air while on the job. This can prevent the itchiness that can occur when hose are made of non-breathable material. Discover some other reasons why women purchase these kinds of hose for work.

A pair of hose with the proper support fits a woman in a secure way. She doesn't have to adjust them or pull at them during the day. They stay in place so well that in many cases she may forget she's wearing them.

Many hose that offer women support are available in a variety of colors. Though panty hose are a practical item, they can also coordinate with a woman's work outfit to make her feel more attractive. Some women like to purchase several colors of hose so they can vary the outfits that they wear to work. They want the support as well as the fashionable style.

Finally, women appreciate the ability to put on and take off the hose that provide them with support. After a day of working, most women want a pair of hose that they don't have to struggle to remove. Unfortunately, if a woman has trouble taking off or putting on hose, there's a chance for the hose to be torn or otherwise damaged.

A SPACE OF YOUR OWN: TOP BEDROOM DESIGN TIPS

$

A bedroom should be a place of refuge - a breath of fresh air. It should inspire instant relaxation, warmth, comfort and sweet dreams. Too often, however, it’s a nightmare. It’s a bad habit of homeowners to focus on every other room of their house and neglect the one that matters to them the most. Bedrooms can easily become a dumping ground for miscellaneous household items, laundry and paperwork.

Well, it’s time to take back your bedroom and make it your own again. A few simple bits of design inspiration can turn it from a forgotten corner of the house to your own peaceful haven.

Light and Bright

Whilst you may think that a bedroom, a place to hunker down and get cosy in, would lend itself better to dark colours, lighter shades are a far better choice. Pale yellows, light sea greens and different shades of cream would a make the ideal colour palette for your bedroom.

Why? Lighter colours create the illusion of more space. The smaller a room feels, the more likely it is to seem cluttered and confined. Use light colours - including a bright white ceiling - to open up the space. Add a large mirror (ideally reflecting the window) to continue the illusion.

Sneaky Storage

Something we all know is that a nice bedroom is a clean one - no clothes on the floor, no stacks of paper on the bedside table, and no closets you’re scared to open.

Bedroom furniture that comes with built-in storage solutions is ideal for inspiring a more tidy space. For example, look for beds that have a hidden drawer built underneath or behind the headboard. Add shelving that allows you to display items in an organised way.

A Personal Touch

Finally, you must stake your claim on your bedroom. Remind yourself that it’s yours, and only yours (or perhaps yours and the person you share it with). Add a personal touch by framing photos of your favourite people, places or memories. Keep a bookshelf of only your favourite books (organise them by colour to add an extra spark to the room).

If you’re bold enough, create a feature wall with a hand-painted mural (use a stencil if you’re not confident in your art skills). Display the items that matter to you most, and get rid of all the rest.

The time to stop neglecting your bedroom is now. You need that space, and at the moment, it needs you.

 2ND DAVAO MEDIA EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The 2nd DMEA coincides with the Media Freedom Day in commemoration of the death of 34 media personalities who were victims of the Maguindanao Massacre in 2009.

“This is our way honoring Davao media and online writers who are breaking new grounds in news dissemination and are showing the best in communication skills and creativity. SHOPPING FOR FLIGHT JACKET

Flight jacket for women
Flight jacket for women
Some consumers may dread the coming holiday season, if only for the frustration and financial difficulty that attempting to find appropriate and appreciated gifts can bring. For this reason, it makes sense to give the giver what they truly want- at a price that is within budget. Everyone on a holiday gift list wants a high-quality, stylish leather jacket; this is a timeless item that provides both utility and fashion for the wearer. There are numerous retailers that offer such apparel, perhaps locally, however the prices may still be out-of-reach for many that are struggling amid the increased holiday expenses and costs. It is possible to find quality leathers, including the ever-popular flight jacket, when consumers shop online for such purchases.

There are some sites offering sharp and durable flight jackets, at very competitive price points. All of the features found in the more-expensive variations are present in some of the online products offered by these reputable, experienced vendors, and consumers may be surprised by the difference in pricing seen when compared to local retail venues. The reason that these merchants are able to offer consumers such enticing deals may have something to do with the direct-purchase nature of the sale. There is no middle-man, such as the mall, store-front, or boutique, so shoppers are able to grab great deals on quality merchandise for any person on their holiday shopping list. Further incentives related to shipping costs, expedited delivery, or percentage savings for some shoppers, may further drive down pricing. This equates to a very impressive and beloved holiday gift this season, at a price that won't have consumers buried under mounds of shopping debt come spring.

This is a long overdue post and cliché as it may sound, better late than never. Blame it to flu, I know these germs been bugging me for days already and I’ve been playing deaf and mute of its existence inside me, until shortly after the awards night, it hit me like a thunderbolt and walla! I’m down to bed for days; I’m feeling fine now after lemon and honey therapy – very effective I must say.

Anyway, I’ve blogged it before that Woman Elan Vital has been nominated and eventually made it to the final list as Best Lifestyle Blog to Mindanao Blog awards 2013, I didn’t win the trophy, Mindanaoan.com won it and I share her joy for bagging the award (See complete list of MBA Winners at www.mindanaoblogawards.com), nonetheless, we’ll work it out next year, what’s important was that I had a great time meeting awesome bloggers from all over Mindanao. And to those who voted for me, daghang salamat!

Congratulations Mindanao bloggers! Soar high Mindanao!

CHOOSING THE RIGHT MATERNITY WEAR

Congratulations you’re on the way to mamahood. By now I would assume that you’re already pooling up layettes in preparation for the delivery, but on the side also have thoughts about eventually giving up your hip clothes in favor of large tent dresses and sweats to accommodate your growing bump. But in today’s fashion gripped environment, this would come less of your problem as this is now being addressed just as fashionable as what you’re used to wear before becoming pregnant.

Maternity dresses often come expensive, but here are few ideas on how you can save in choosing the right maternity wear.

Maternity jeans | Maternity maxi dress from Bon Prix
Maternity jeans | Maternity maxi dress from www.bonprix.co.uk

When you buy maternity dress, stick to the same kind of fashion repertoire you’re used to wearing when you’re not pregnant. When you're used to wearing black, then find the same or when you’re used to wearing jeans then find maternity jeans that are of best fit for you.

Ask friends if they have pre-loved maternity dresses. Visit consignment and thrift stores they frugal moms usually put their pre-loved expensive clothes on these stores. Let’s admit that maternity dresses are expensive, so the best way to save on outfits that will let wear for nine months at least is to consider this option.

Shop for dresses just when your baby bump is showing. If you shop too soon, chances are you’ll be buying dresses that are too big or too small. Buy designs you’ll still be able to wear shortly after giving birth – your transitional dress.

This maternity maxi dress I found at www.bonprix.co.uk is just perfectly for a maternity transitional dress, it’ll be beautiful with or without the baby bump.

Show a little flesh. When you are pregnant all of your hormones work to make you more radiant. You’ll have plumper breast, glowing skin – so why hide it, buy dresses that would accentuate these features, just remember not to overdo it.

Accessorize. Just like the usual, go on wearing your favorite ensemble of accessories. Nothing would really change much except for a bulging stomach, but this doesn’t mean you should strip off your MK bangles and necklaces.

Remember to always wear a happy disposition. A happy mama will have a happy baby.

PROJECT HYGIENE KIT: YOUR P100 WILL GO A LONG WAY

I hope this post isn’t too late yet. Thing with juggling life with both worlds, the offline and the online, sometimes you felt like a deer in the headlights. I was too occupied in the past days packing relief goods and briefing volunteers for our psychosocial team that will be deployed to Samar and I was out of the online freeway for a while and when I hitched back I had to dig deep and get myself doses of information of what’s happening around blogosphere.

Indeed, Yolanda’s devastation is surely way beyond our imagination, but seeing how this devastation has brought the best out of the global community is far more inspiring and moving. The surge of help coming from around the globe to the survivors of Yolanda is just so overwhelming and we can’t thank these angels enough for their effort. 'Ang Diyos na bahala sa inyo.'

The Davao Blogger’s community is also doing its share to help by coming up with 1,000 hygiene kits that will be sent to the typhoon survivors.

Here’s an infographic of the anatomy of the hygiene kit.

PROJECT HYGIENE KIT: YOUR P100 WILL GO A LONG WAY

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another” -Charles Dickens

The devastation caused by the typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) has affected not only a few cities and houses in the Philippines but the majority of the Visayas region where the death counts has now reached thousands and number of families affected now millions.

A conscious effort is now being undertaken by the Davao Bloggers Society to join the relief operations by raising a total of P100,000.00 to finance and produce 1,000 hygiene packs for the victims. Each kit costing to PHP100 or USD2.50 will contain toiletries and other essentials good for one week's use by one person. Hygiene kits were chosen to be donated as this is something that is not yet prioritized by many donors.

Each kit will contain the following:

For MALES – Total Cost: PhP95.60
* 60g Soap
* Weekly pack Shampoo – 8 sachets x 4 mL each
* 3 packs of 30 g Toothpaste
* Toothbrush
* 40 Pulls Pop Up Tissue
* 10 g Cotton
* 75 mL Alcohol
* 2 x 3 mL Deolotion
* 12 mL Insect repellant
* Resealable Zip Bag

PRAYER FOR OUR DEARLY DEPARTED KABABAYANS ...

... who perish during the typhoon Yolanda.

I seem to can’t get over my woes hearing stories of painful loss, struggle and beyond words experience of people who were caught in the eye of the terrifying typhoon Yolanda. For days now I’ve witnessed how the person I've looked up to and the pillar of our institution went down on his knees crying for strength to God trusting he can get through this deluge. He saw his brother swallowed by the rushing water trying to save a drifted kid at the height of Yolanda’s lashing.

Perhaps we’re into these trying times because somehow we forgot to call upon each; we’re so occupied with so many things in this world that we forgot we’re in one planet to look out for each other and not to take advantage of one another.

Sorrow might the consequence be, but in some way we get consolation looking at the bigger picture, Yolanda has brought the best of humanity around the globe by coming in together to reach out and help the survivors.

To all our brave volunteers who dared the unspeaking darkness of Samar and Leyte and many other affected areas, I know God is giving you this enormous strength because you’ve all endured the pain. To all the Good Samaritans around the world, you’ll be blessed countless times with your generosity.

The Yolanda survivors had survived because they’re tougher than the strongest typhoon and in time they’ll bounce back and transform into stronger individuals ready for life again.

To our dearly departed, our faith tells us that death is not the end, but rather the beginning of the fullness of life and I offer this prayer;

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

GIRLS MUST HAVE: STUNNING SARONG

Sarongs, those brightly colored and fantastical garments that are sweeping beaches the world over, are the perfect cozy piece of clothing to pack for that tropical vacation or just to have on a hot summer day. If a bathrobe is too heavy and stifling during the hot months, a sarong is a great substitute. They also make great towels to lay out on or when spread over the grass offer a comfortable place to sit during a picnic or nighttime family movie in the park. Some women even fashion quick handbags out of them when in a jam. They are worn as long and short skirts, halter dresses, draped tops and tube tops, and bathing suit cover-ups. Even men don them for their light-weight and convenience.

With their increasing popularity, sarongs have expanded in colors, sizes, and material. Animals, mystical beasts, tribal swirls, Celtic knots, floral, sunsets, sunrises, beaches, tye-dye, and many more patterns adorn sarongs now. The colors are often vibrant and shocking, but there are pastels and dark colors available, too. Sarongs began as mostly cotton, but they are now in a range of materials from cotton to silk. It used to be on beaches or in tropical countries that sarongs were available for purchase, but waiting until hitting a beach to buy a sarong is in the past. A quick internet search will bring sarongs to fingertips in seconds.

FairWindsSarongs.com is one such website. Their sarong selection is vast and varied. They offer twelve different sarong categories: floral, solid, smoked, hand-painted and embroidered, tie dye, high-end pertama, celtic, half and mini, plus sized, cotton, lightweight kedua, and silk. Most of these are self explanatory, but what is smoked, pertama, and kedua? A smoked sarong refers to a special way of dying, which creates the unique patterns. Pertama refers to a higher thread count, meaning that these sarongs tend to be a little bit heavier, though still lightweight, and more durable. The kedua sarong is one that has more modern designs and are made for the economically conscious buyer. Another great thing, their sarongs all come from Indonesian craftmen, who FairWindsSarongs works closely with.

In addition to offering a plethora of sarong styles, there are also sarong accessories, how-to-wear guides, and cleaning and care tips. And for the non-sarong buyer, there are men's shirts, sundresses, long dresses, scarves, hats, bags, and jewelry also available for purchase.
