Why at 52 I’m now planning my retirement?

It’s too early to plan my young mind said, but the 52 in me said, nahhh, better plan now than nganga in the future. Here’s some thought about why at 52 I now prioritize planning my retirement.

As I celebrate the milestone of turning 52, I find myself at a pivotal juncture in my life, one that beckons me to confront the realities of aging with courage and foresight. Among the myriad considerations that occupy my thoughts, none weighs more heavily than the imperative need to earnestly confront and prioritize my retirement plans. Retirement, once a distant concept relegated to the realm of "someday," now looms on the horizon with a sense of urgency and immediacy that demands my attention.

For too long, the notion of retirement planning has been shrouded in ambiguity and apprehension, overshadowed by more immediate concerns and family obligations. Yet, as I stand on the threshold of my fifth decade, I am acutely aware of the need to confront this essential aspect of my financial future head-on.

At 52 now, I find myself at a crossroads, poised between the responsibilities of the present and the uncertainties of the future. The years ahead hold the promise of newfound freedoms and opportunities, yet they also present formidable challenges and uncertainties, particularly when it comes to financial security and stability in retirement.

For women, in particular, the need to prioritize retirement planning when in their 50s is paramount, given the unique economic challenges and disparities we face. Throughout our lives, we navigate a myriad of roles and responsibilities—as caregivers, nurturers, and professionals—often at the expense of our own financial well-being. The gender pay gap, interrupted careers due to caregiving duties, and longer life expectancies (claiming God’s promise to give me a long, healthy, vibrant, and happy life so I can share more wisdom with you, ladies) all contribute to a heightened need for strategic retirement planning tailored to our specific needs and circumstances.

By prioritizing retirement planning in our 50s ladies, we reclaim agency over our financial destiny, laying the groundwork for a future defined by financial security, peace of mind, and the freedom to pursue our passions and aspirations without constraint.

This is actually a decision born out of self-love and self-respect, a recognition of my inherent worth and the value of investing in my future well-being.

In the journey ahead, I embrace the challenge of retirement planning with determination and resolve, knowing that every step I take today brings me closer to a future of financial empowerment and fulfillment.

Have you thought about your golden future yet my dear ones? It’s crucial to consider this seriously because, by God’s grace, I’m claiming His promise that He is going to give me a long life.

Thank you for reading up to this point. Would appreciate it if you could share your thoughts about your future retirement plans in the comments below.
