Where to begin
Priority number one is finding cheap accommodation which in the right area. With family rooms costing as little as a double room with Travelodge, you can find your cheap accommodation for your family trip to London. There are over fifteen different locations, so you can select your ideal area depending on what suits your family best.
As everyone is well aware, London is massive and it can mean a great deal of time on transport. Luckily children under 16 travel free on public transport at all times and Oyster cards should be purchased for the best discounts and ease of travel.
Thankfully central London is actually quite compact. You can take in the Westminster Abbey, stroll past Big Ben, fight your way past the queues outside the London Aquarium and the London Eye and have a pleasant stroll down the Southbank before crossing again at Tower Bridge and taking in the Tower of London. Easy day’s activity sorted!
Free is the best price
Almost all of the Art Galleries and Museums offer free entry, or some just offer sections. This makes it a lot easier as a family though, so you do not feel obliged to get your monies worth if you need/want to leave! You would actually be hard pushed to visit them all anyway!
There are the famous spots like Camden Town, Portobello Road and Covent Garden that are beautiful to walk around and admire the diverse array of goods on offer, stunning architecture and street performers. The street food on Camden and Portobello is actually incredibly reasonably priced and delicious. You can get a huge selection down the cool Camden markets near the canal and everything’s around a fiver, and they give you loads of freebies to try coax you over!
With over ten huge main parks in London too, you are never far away from a beautiful spot to sit down, enjoy the surroundings and have a picnic for a quieter moment. Most of the parks have Barclays bike hire spots too; which are totally free if you use them for under an hour, or it’s only a pound if you want longer! You can cruise all round the parks and pavements of the historically and culturally rich capital city of London. Take a ride to Maida Vale-the little Venice or venture to the Greenwich Meantime Line and jump from side to side. There options are endless and you don’t need to break the bank at all!
